September is National Senior Center Month in the US. Senior centers are where engagement and innovation take place for older adults in their communities daily. At Northshore Senior Center we are your home away from home, a place for social and physical wellbeing along with essential services for you to enjoy. Be sure to get involved in one or all of the amazing programs and services Northshore Senior Center offers.
Intergenerational Program
Are you looking for something fun and exciting to do? We are looking for approximately 30 seniors to take part in an intergenerational project with Canyon Park Middle School. Students will be meeting and interviewing seniors asking simple questions on the week of September 26. A few weeks later we will get together again to hear all the great presentations from the students on the senior they met. If interested, please contact Kerri Schwindt at kerris@mynorthshore.org.
IACS Open House
Indian American Community Services will be having an open house mid-September to promote their upcoming programs at Northshore. Please keep an eye out for more information to come.
Variety Band
It’s time to get the Variety Band back together again! Let’s meet on Tuesday, September 13 at 10am in our regular practice room. No need to bring instruments this time as we’ll mostly be doing some planning. New band members and vocalists are welcome to come check it out to see if it’s a good fit for them. Mark your calendars!
Kenmore Senior Center Program Updates

Greetings from the Kenmore location of the Northshore Senior Center! Did you know that when you become a member, you are a member at all three of our locations, Bothell, Kenmore and Mill Creek. Each location offers its own special atmosphere, programs and workshops. Take some time to peruse our catalog to see the myriad of offerings provided by all branches of the fantastic Northshore Senior Center!
Classes
In addition to our regular classes/programs, September offers a special “Fascinator Hat” 2-session workshop on Thursday, September 15 & 22, from 12:30-2:30. Our Instructor, Ms. Gretchen Davey, is a fantastic artist and wonderful teacher. Give us a call to sign-up for this fun workshop and go home with a beautiful hat to wear for any occasion! 425.489.0707
Services
If you need help navigating the myriad Medicare options, make an appointment with our SHIBA volunteer, Dave Reynolds who will guide you through what’s best for your situation. September 9, 9am-noon. Call for a free one-hour consultation! Happens the 2nd Friday of every month.
Community Partners
A special shout out to the Kenmore Grocery Outlet who provided our Community Food Pantry with all the donations gleaned from their annual “Feed the Need” Food drive! Owner Judy Bartlow and her wonderful team are great supporters of the Kenmore community. Check out their store for great bargains, huge variety and friendly service. Thanks, Judy. We love Grocery Outlet!
Our Fall 2022 Catalog will be out in October. If you do not receive one in the mail, stop by the Kenmore Senior to pick one up, have a cup of coffee and check out all our classes and activities. Wishing each and all a first day of Autumn, Sept. 21st!
Mill Creek Senior Center Program Updates

The National Council On Aging (NCOA) has celebrated September as “National Senior Center” month for decades, and this year’s theme is ‘Strengthening Community Connections’. It feels like we are almost starting over after quarantine which is actually a great opportunity to come up with some new ideas and try out some new things. Is there something you have wanted to try or been interested in but haven’t jumped in yet? Or is there something you would like to share with your peers? Or maybe you’d like to volunteer at for a few hours a week. No better time than the present!
Upcoming Center Event
For our next tea we visiting Morocco with “Tea in Marrakesh”.
If you like trivia, we had our first “Trivia A la Mode” afternoon which was great fun.
We’re getting some regular chess players and pinochle is in full swing Monday, Wednesday and Thursday! Look for Yahtzee and Scrabble to start soon, as well!
